AN EDGY LOOK...

Spring is in the air! I am currently on the way to a trip to Los Angeles and I had to do a quick post at the airport to show off this quick style inspo!
I feel at this point, I am still establishing my personal style, and I have gone into different types of styles as in the ultra casual, to rocky edgy, classy and sassy and whatever looks cool and in season I guess. This particular style was kinda styled by a subscriber lol! I put this dress into a haul video and someone commented, that would look so cool with some dark shades, a leather biker jacket and white trainers, and I unfortunately did not have the footwear so I added these platform heels instead.

The look is pretty cute and simple, the dress itself has not got any shape, but I guess thats the point, its meant to be a a very casual laid back kind of ensemble.

Rocky edgy trends is what I steer from normally as I feel I can look kinda weird in it, however, I put this together and I am kinda feeling it.

What do you think?

HAVE A GLASS OF CLASS | OUTFIT POST

Hey loves, you already know, I have an addiction to all black. Lately as I am developing my personal style, I feel the safest way is to experiment with a lot of black pieces. I have put these two pieces together, the interesting thing is it actually can be mistaken as a dress.
The skirt and body is from Boohoo whilst the shoes are from Missguided.
Check out these pictures for outfit inspiration.

The Power of Influence

Hello Friends!

It is Good Friday, and for some of us, its just a bank holiday but for a lot of us its a treasured Christian Holiday. Whatever you decide to take it as, I hope you all have a fantastic day :).
Today I am discussing Influence. This may be a take a topic that in a lot of cases gets over looked or taken lightly, however for me, I have really looked deep into the issue following some recent events that have occurred in my life.

What is an influence? It is the ability to effect the character, development or behaviour of someone or something. (I literally googled it!) But I could not think of a better way of describing what it is.
Influence moulds you. It is the reason why and where you are today. Especially in regards to your character, preferences and tastes, some where along the line, something or someone influenced you to make certain choices.
Something that has been a recent discussion over the internet is the power of media influence, particularly Social Media. Someone like myself, is referred to as an Online Influencer, and in fact its actually becoming a job title for many. When I make beauty, fashion or any related videos, people are influenced to purchase for example or even develop their beauty and style techniques to be somewhat relatable to mine, because I 'influenced' them to do so and so are the 10000000s of YouTubers and Online influencers , big or small out there!

But how are we influenced in our lives? What shapes our personalities, perceptions, characters, growths, appearance and everything that makes us, us?

When I was growing up, I had considerably a decent life. I am very grateful, was not as fortunate as some however I was never deprived. I was brought up on a Council Estate, by grounded African parents. My father had a good business that unfortunately did not end up too well, my mother was a working woman also. So instantly, my influence in my life from my parents, is to work hard. However, I did have other influences from perhaps friends at school and even other family members that also had the power to influence me to make wrong choices. For me, it was all apart of the journey of this thing called life, and I had to learn for myself, the best way and route to take through trials and tribulations, lessons, meeting and talking with different types of people, and ultimately teaching myself to becoming the best woman I could be.
As a teenager, my influence was not positive at all. I wished I had someone to look up to that influenced me to make better choices. A lot of things I had to develop and learn on my own because there was simply no one that could influence me (positively) to making the best out of myself. Yes there were people... but as I am grown and look back.. their influences were not good and therefore my path was leading to destruction. Now, I cannot push the blame on others I also take full responsibility for my own actions, however, the essence of this is INFLUENCE, and at a very fragile stage in life which is teenage hood no matter how perfect an upbringing can be, you may be influenced through some type of cause to do what you perceive to be is best. Take for example Kylie Jenner (I love her!) at 17, she caused a huge uproar about having lip injections and to be in a relationship with an 'older man', I believe although it is her own choice, she is influenced by that type of lifestyle from her family of course... no they did not push her to do so, and no they did not tell her, but if thats what she is surrounded by, where do you think her influence came from? She may not even realise it, and its not just her family, its perhaps what she sees on the internet, its perhaps her friends? At some point, it was an influence that stirred this?
I could go on an on and on about the power of influence in my life and how it has effected me... I may possibly make a video on it. But overall, the essence of this post is for you to understand, what you are surrounded by, ultimately moulds and shapes you. And this can either make or break you. I believe for me, my initial influences would have broken me, but thank God, I got 'positive' influence from good company and good friends (eventually), my aspirations, perceptions and life choices changed.
To cut a long story short, I could have been a bum, ratchet, wreckless individual LOL! However, God placed amazing people in my circle and therefore my aspirations in life is to now become hard working, elegant, classy, my lifestyle has changed, my dress sense, the way I talk, the places I go.. and for me it has been a positive spin and I am content with this lifestyle.

What influences you? Who influences you? Is it positive or negative... Is it YOU? For me, I realised my initial influences was not even me or my taste and I have developed or at least I am still developing into a greater version of myself.

KNITS IN SPRING

The weather this month of March has been so promising. We have had fantastic sunshine. It is officially spring and that gets me very excited about the coming months ahead as it gets warmer and I can finally pul out my skirts, flowy maxi dresses, sandals and everything airy and free! Now I cannot complain about the amazing sunshine, but it has actually also been quite bitterly cold! Living here in Great Britain means unpredictable weather unfortunately as even the sunshine can fool you. Especially these early months of Spring, when the sun shines, you may just be ready to throw on a light top or a vest but its still cold!
So for this outfit, I decided to keep winterish, with this gorgeous knitwear jumper from River Island PLUS and the cute biker jacket from Boohoo worn with some cropped leggings.. you can alternate it with jeans if you prefer and my gorgeous heeled gladiator sandals.

Knits are not always a bad idea in spring especially when it has side splits and no sleeves!

TRANSITIONING WITH THE TRENCH

Its an absolute gorgeous sunny day, in fact, Spring is OFFICIALLY here. March has had some amazing wether and clearly this is the transition from Winter to Spring that we all have been waiting for. I actually love Autumn for fashion, however you cannot go wrong with spring also.
So I have this gorgeous Trench Coat from River Island's new plus size range.

The coat is gorgeous and is a stand out kind of piece. Very airy, light and room, and can turn even boring old black into something special which is what I have done here.

I have just a pair of black leggings, and a black top and black sock ankle boots and it puts the style together quite nicely making it a very gorgeous classy outfit.

Just a casual stroll in Kensington and great captures from the ever so amazing www.sonyametzler.co.uk and I feel like a million! Also accompanied by my very own friend Mrs Grey www.greydynasty.com who literally got in for observation and got papped as well!

BLACK IS MY UNIFORM

If there is a colour I can wear for the rest of my life, it would be black. Infact, I am going to wear it for the rest of my life! Black is my uniform. I own quite a lot of black handbags, hats, shoes and of course clothing. This look is a mix of urban and chic style whilst I run around in the city for the usual meetings and shopping.
A stable piece to own in a plus size girls wardrobe are a fab pair of black trousers (pants), a nice top, a large tote bag and of course accessories. You can put a great and effortless and sleek look together and look gorgeous whilst out on the town!

THE FEELING OF FULFILLMENT

You may or may not have noticed my beauty brand www.ambyrose.com has started a campaign called #feelfulfilled.  I have not got into depth about the campaign but for now I am just warming things up about it online.
The Feeling of Fulfilment is a feeling like no other. To be whole and complete sometimes feels impossible to reach, however it is definitely obtainable. Its not a matter of wether you have married, have children or a child, got that dream job, house or car. But it is a matter of where you place yourself. You see, you can have all of that and not feel complete.
Depression is something I have battled in my life SEVERELY to the point where I was literally afraid of people. It is because I decided to place myself in a place where I did not feel I was worthy of anything.
My journey has taught me so many life lessons. From differing relationships, friendships, working with different people, my various different jobs I have worked, the places I have travelled to, each time I pull a little something to shape and mould me to get through this journey.
If there is anything you can do for yourself, work on your character. To me fulfilment is a reward. A reward of your humility, your character, how you help people (sincerely), a reward of your hard work and commitment.

Short but sweet post, but I hope this helps someone out there.

You need to get to the point that, no matter where you are at in your life, if you have tried, and worked for it... feel PROUD! Feel proud of yourself!

Unfortunately the top, jeans and shoes are old. But here is the details of the coat from Elvi Clothing

THE LONELY BLOGGER LIFE | TIPS TO ENJOY THAT FREELANCE BLOGGER LIFE!

Just to run you through a typical day of mine, before we get right into this post!
I normally wake up alone! Hubby has already gone off to work, he would normally give me kiss on the head whilst am half asleep or he will say softly am off to work whilst I am miles away in sleepy land and I respond 'bye' in a terrible mumble and head straight back to sleep! My little boy goes off on the school bus (and yes I do get him ready myself on days where I stay at mums or head there early in the morning for enquiring minds!) and of course he is off at school for the entire day and gets dropped off back to mums for the evening!
I would then get myself ready, run to the office where I have no assistant, check mails, shout at the bank over the phone and then post my orders! Perhaps, some editing here and there, a blog post or so.. a catch up on YouTube and all. I text a friend, she is normally too busy to respond cos she is at her desk OR at her lunch with her amazing colleagues.
I then decide to head off to somewhere 'interesting' that would make great instagram, snapchat or twitter posts and take pictures of my latte, salad or whatever and post it on my social media 'just for fun'! Afterwards, I run back to mums, cook, feed and give my little one a bath and then put him to bed. The rest of the night would also be the usual, perhaps some devotional and reading, being an ear to a friend complaining about her manager on the phone and having a nose on social media lol!

The Blogger Life...
It seems so PERFECT. Landscapes of Paris, shots of latte's and cappuccino, birds eye view pictures of food, seeing a blogger do a new brand campaign... the list goes on!
The life of a blogger is extremely rewarding and fruitful, however in all honesty, it can get lonely!
It gets lonely because whilst everyone else seems to be doing their 9-5, here you are typing up the newest blog post, filming a video or whatever and at times when you need to call a friend for a chit chat, no one is available. I decide to try and make my days most exciting. Its great owning my own business and blogging at the same time as it keeps me occupied but in actual fact, it can get slightly mundane and a change of atmosphere is most needed!

I know a lot of bloggers who have decided to take this exciting venture into a full time job and it is a great move! But it can get lonely.. I decided to put this post out to hopefully offer some advice on how to make your blog life exciting and well... less lonely!

1) Accept that this is your own journey- Understand that this is something you would genuinely be doing by yourself for a long time! You kind of need to get used to being lonely and make it a lifestyle.
2) Schedule your days- if all you do is literally blog then a schedule and a diary of your day would help you get through it. Because I am a mother and wife, I do get occupied with other things which is not just being on the computer all day surfing the net. I get to cook and clean and play with my son. But for those who are not there in their life yet and all you do is blog, you may want to think of other things to do to fill up your day
3) Make other blogger friends. The community is HUGE, be friendly, get to know people and meet other bloggers for lunch, and breakfast. Last week I had a great breakfast date with my friend Melissa from www.melissaswardrobe.com. Go to events also, you would meet amazing people!
4) Explore! Often at least once or twice a month, I take my laptop and head to a swanky hotel in central London or even sometimes somewhere just outside London. ITS FREE! Use their wifi and order a hot meal whilst you use their facilities and update your blog!
5) Visit someone- not everyone is a blogger, but then again not everyone works! There may just be someone that may want to see you for the day! I am literally at my mums house EVERY DAY, if not just for my son but to chill out with mum! We do cool stuff like go shopping sometimes, cook and eat! It really is what you make it
6) Treat yourself! You may possibly know, there is A LOT of money in blogging. In my opinion sometimes way too much lol, however it is great to be rewarded financially for your hard work so sometimes, book a spa day (at least you can blog it!), go shopping or even window shopping.
7) Don't feel bad! I know your best friends have possibly taken another route such as working in a corporate environment, when your that friend that likes to take a pictures of everything! They would understand and appreciate your job, you would need them, I do not know what I would do without my best friends... they bring me right back down to earth and are always there to hear me complain and mumble about the world of blogging! They offer words of wisdom and inspire me to keep focussed and hopeful!

So thats it my friends, your favourite vloggers and bloggers who do this full time, are having a great life, however its normally just them and it can be a lonely world sometimes so its just a matter of working well with the time you have!
